It’s the finishing touches that truly bring your home’s personality to life.
The ironmongery on your doors and windows might seem subtle, but these elegant details are often the first thing guests notice—they reflect your unique taste and set the tone for your entire space.
Choosing ironmongery that complements your home's architectural style goes far beyond following trends; it’s about showcasing your home’s individuality and increasing its curb appeal for every passer-by.
From rustic latches that add charm to a cosy cottage, to gleaming handles that bring timeless sophistication to a Georgian residence, the right ironmongery doesn’t just complete a look—it elevates it. Small accents, carefully chosen, make a lasting impression and turn ordinary spaces into something truly memorable.
A primary consideration is to choose the type of locking system that you might like on your new door. We use a multipoint locking system on all of our external doors, which works with both a lever handle, and an 'auto-lock', however each locking system requires different pieces of hardware.
It is also often easier to choose your ideal paint, or stain colour first, followed by selecting a hardware style that complements your vision, and, any hardware already in your home, then decide on the finishing touches that will bring everything together.
If you already have a specific finish in mind, such as a sleek satin brass, or antique black, do feel free to start there!
Which hardware you need depends on the type of window you have.
A traditional Georgian or Victorian home will most likely have a sash window, so lifts, fasteners, and pulleys will be needed.
A traditional casement will need a latch, and a stay; and a stormproof, or flush casement window, which both use a multipoint locking system, will need a window espagnolette to operate the locking mechanism.
All options come in a range of finishes and styles to suit your home, and many finishes can be suited across your windows and doors to create a cohesive look throughout your property.
Yes, absolutely, we work with some of the leading architectural ironmongers in the UK, and if you can't find what you're looking for off the shelf, we can certainly help to find the right pieces for you.
